Welcome to London Embroidery Club.
We are a small hand embroidery specialist enterprise tailored to run a full range of bespoke hand embroidery classes, courses or master classes for all skill levels based in London.
The Club was founded in August 2013 by Peruvian Master Embroiderer Bella Lane with the aim of sharing Bella’s specialist embroidery expertise with all who would like to learn and advance the art of hand embroidery in depth, from scratch beginners to mastery of a particular discipline carefully planned over whatever time you have available.
The Club covers all the traditional English embroidery techniques and additionally we practice many other world embroidery specialities. All levels are welcome: Beginners – Intermediate – Advanced – Specialist.
In past years, we were delighted to see our student club members developing their chosen techniques to a very high level. This includes mastering 16th Century Traditional Stumpwork (also known as raised embroidery); intermediate Jacobean crewel work; Goldwork; Whitework; Peruvian embroidery; Silk shading (needle painting) embroideries; canvas-work; cross-stitch and many others. As well it was fantastic to have had the first Club Embroidery Exhibition together with Bella’s work in December 2014 to March 2015. And in October 2019/20 we are very much looking forward to another embroidery exhibition in London.
On request we can award Certificates at the end of a course.
Members: Our members are a friendly enthusiastic small group from all professional backgrounds who are beginning or are mastering in depth a particular technique. Anyone can join at any time, the Club is open to everyone. Members are encouraged to begin with a simple beginner class, but with the idea of later or soon after moving to and progressing a chosen discipline. At the end of each year we have an embroidery exhibition with all works done during the Club classes, it is fun and a rewarding moment for the embroidery artists in the Club. The Club days are flexible; members can be present at every class or they can drop by when desired and need tutorial advice. We ensure that each of our members is treasured and valued.
How to start with us: Before anyone joins the Club day on Fridays, we like to have a one-to-one meeting with the new member. This welcome helps us to discuss and plan projects that lie ahead.
We meet twice a month on Fridays from 10 – 3pm in two different venues in London: Battersea Park & Hackney
Cost: Welcoming one-to-one meeting £70.00
Club Days Cost for 2019: £55.00
Materials cost: Are extra and depend on each project.

“Bella Lane was my very first embroidery teacher, and she became my friend. Today I’m studying embroidery in one of the best school in Paris to become a professional embroiderer. I’ve been working for Fendi, Saint Laurent, Cartier. I highly recommend her teachings. She is kind, patient and very professionnal. I wouldn’t be where I am today without her. Trust her you will explore a world you couldn’t imagine it was existing”.
Many thanks to my very special friend,
